FLAMENCO TEAM BUILDING EVENT
Employees will learn problem solving, collaboration, building camaraderie, creativity and leadership.
A Flamenco Team Building workshop, tailor-made for your company, is an ideal vehicle for a team bonding exercise or ice-breaking activity. All individuals are taken outside their normal "comfort zone" in a fun and non-threatening way. They learn a new skill together with everyone starting from the same basis- whatever their status within the organization.
Flamenco! - an ideal team bonding exercise with a difference - it is safe, it does not involve rain, mud, paint-balls or rappelling!
Flamenco!...the Studio, the only all-Flamenco-arts studio in Arizona and Pepin Restaurante Español, the oldest Spanish Restaurant in Arizona, have joined forces to bring a unique cultural team-building experience to your employees.
In a three-hour private cultural immersion program, employees will hear an introductory lecture about the history of Flamenco. The lecture will be presented by Ricardo de Cristobal, Arizona’s leading Flamenco historian and master Flamenco guitarist
Employees then will enjoy an authentic Flamenco dance and music performance by Un Corazón Flamenco which is Ricardo de Cristóbal, guitarist, and Linda Machado, dancer. Un Corazón Flamenco is considered the Valley’s most authentic Flamenco performance company as their performances are always improvisational. They have been featured on PBS, NPR, Arizona Highways and in many other media coverages. Ricardo and Linda are also selected Roster Artists with the Arizona Commission for the Arts.
Employees will learn about the heirarchy in a professional Flamenco company and how performers work together as a group at the same time tnat they are working individually. Improvisation (thinking outside the box while remaining inside the box by adhering to the constraints of Flamenco rhythms) is a paramount skill required by Flamenco artists.
Employees then will receive Flamenco dance instruction from Linda Machado. Instruction will include basic Flamenco posture and body movement, braceo (arm movement), floreo (hand movement) and zapateado (footwork). Employees will learn about Flamenco rhythms and about Flamenco percussion including palmas (rhythmic hand-clapping) and receive a short choreography.
Employees will learn to work together as a group to create a successful group performance as well as individually performing solo but being supported by the group. Students will be invited to participate in a show using the material they learned in the dance class. Costume accessories will be provided.
